Not Backing Off In Iran

Am staying in touch with my contact in Tehran as it seems both sides in the stand off are hardening.  Here’s the latest message I received on Monday:

"As for the situation on the ground, there is talk of strikes in the capital city and Kurdistan. Mousavi is not backing away from his position. Also, saw the basij at the Vali Asr square tonight. No police presence, only Basij. The family of Neda, the girl who was killed at a demo, was supposed to have a memorial for her at a mosque in Abbas Abad. But the authorities did not give permission for the event to take place. BTW, last night the state TV was showing this strange documentary about Bani Sadr and how the late Ayatollah deposed him from office. The rumor here is that Mousavi is being portrayed as the next Bani Sadr."

Trying to imagine how it would feel to not be able to attend a memorial service of a slain family member.

  • The dispute should be ended by bilateral talk. And initiation must be taken by the authority to restore peace and order in Tehran/Iran.
